In the 16U division North Dakota Phenom took on Howard Pulley 16U White in a basketball game. It took a while for each of these teams to get used to each other.
Pulley started the game off in a man-to-man defense they wanted to get into the passing lanes and create havoc as soon as possible.
Alex Quist for Phenom brought the ball down and got his teammates into the offensive sets that he wanted them to run. Phenom had trouble from the start of the game finding the range.
On the other hand Pulley had an easy time hitting shots that they put up at the start of the game. Despite defensive pressure from Phenom Pulley was able find the range.
Both teams did a good job of going after rebounds. All 10 men crashed the boards when shots were fired at the basket.
Phenom did a good job of swinging the ball around the three-point line. They looked to push the ball in transition for easy scores.
Romeo Barber for Pulley did a good job of handling the basketball. He swung the ball around the three-point line to get the Pulley offense going.
Phenom didn't give up easy shots. They made Pulley work for everything that they put up. Pulley didn't take many three-point shots in the first half. They mostly shot from inside the three-point line.
Phenom went on a run late in the first half. They kept on shooting the ball and didn't get discouraged.
At halftime the score was Howard Pulley 25 and North Dakota Phenom 17.
The second half got off to a bang as each team seemed to bust out of the gate at full tilt. They looked to sprint up and down the floor moving the ball. There were trying to see who could get the most fast breaks.
The score went back and forth throughout the second half. Neither team was able to go on a run.
Pulley looked like they went to sleep for a portion in the second half. They turned the ball over and didn't take care of it and they started missing shots. North Dakota Phenom took advantage of that as they stepped up and hit baskets.
The Phenom took the air out of the Pulley's sails as they made lay-up after lay-up. Pulley kept battling and didn’t give up.
The game remand close throughout the second half.
Pulley struggled shooting the ball for a period of time in the second half. They were able to get to the rebounds but missed on the second chance shots.
In a hard fought game North Dakota Phenom came away with the 56-45 victory over Howard Pulley.
