MINNEAPOLIS NORTH WENT UP AGAINST EAST GRAND FORKS IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 15, Minneapolis North and East Grand Forks went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game North had a record of 16-5 while East Grand Forks had a record of 20-1. 

North looked to push the ball down the floor and looked to get everyone involved in the offense.

East Grand Forks moved the ball down the floor and got everyone involved in the offense. They passed the ball around the 3-point line and took time off the clock. 

North looked to come up with steals on the defensive end and turn them into layups on the offensive end. 

East Grand Forks did a good job of moving the ball down the floor and getting everyone the chance to get the ball. 

Neither team went on a run early in the first half. There were multiple ties and lead changes throughout the first half. 

North’s Davon Townley came up with rebounds on both ends of the floor. 

North called a timeout with 13:02 left in the first half. The score was North 13, East Grand Forks 10.

Townley came up with steals and layups. He was able to beat everyone down the floor and come up with layups in transition. 

East Grand Forks’ Jeremiah Haavig came up with deep 3-point shots. He also knew where his teammates were on the floor and got them the ball in spots where they could shoot it.

East Grand Forks’ Nathan Willett came up with deep 3-point shots. He wasn’t afraid to shoot deep 3-point shots coming off screens. 

North looked to come up with 3-point shots. Everyone crashed the boards on both ends of the floor. 

There were multiple ties and lead changes throughout the whole first half. Neither team went on a huge run in the first half. 

Both teams looked to come up with fast-break layups in the first half. Neither team looked to give up uncontested shots. 

North’s CJ Brown III came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. He was able to slow down the defense on the defensive end.

At halftime, the score was North 37, East Grand Forks 30. 

As the second half got underway North continued to get everyone involved in the offense. North’s Mario Sanders II came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

East Grand Forks called a timeout with 15:37 left in regulation. The score was North 41, East Grand Forks 30.

East Grand Forks came out flat out of the halftime. They struggled shooting the ball at the start of the second half.

North’s Davon Townley came up with layups in the second half. His teammates knew where he was always on the floor.

East Grand Forks Nathan Willett, Sam Votava, Tanner Campos, Tyler Admodt and Julian Benson all came up with shots throughout the game. 

Sanders came up with shots throughout the second half. With Sanders shot production North looked to keep the offense going and the defensive pressure on East Grand Forks. 

East Grand Forks called a timeout with 10:22 left in regulation. The score was North 51, East Grand Forks 41. 

North continued to push the ball down the floor and come up with layups in transition. 

North called a timeout with 7:48 left in regulation. The score was North 59, East Grand Forks 44.

East Grand Forks continued to struggle shooting the ball in the second half. North’s defensive pressure made it difficult for East Grand Forks to come up with shots throughout the game. 

East Grand Forks called a timeout with 6:02 left in regulation. The score was North 62, East Grand Forks 44. 

East Grand Forks kept battling as they kept attacking the basket late in the game. They kept the defensive pressure on North throughout the whole game.

North called a timeout with 3:33 left in regulation. The score was North 65, East Grand Forks 50.

Both teams played hard throughout the game. Neither team gave up uncontested shots. 

East Grand Forks called a timeout with 2:17 left in regulation. The score was North 65, East Grand Forks 55. 

North continued to come up with shots late in the game. East Grand Forks struggled shooting the ball throughout the game. Even though they struggled shooting the ball they kept on shooting it.

East Grand Forks called a timeout with 24.6 seconds left in regulation. The score was North 71, East Grand Forks 61.

Both teams played hard throughout the game. Neither team gave up and easy look at the basket. 

North came away with the 74-65 victory over East Grand Forks. The leading scorers for North were Townley with 21 points, Wilson with 13 points and Sanders with 11 points. The leading scorers for East Grand Forks were Votava with 19 points, and Willett and Campos each with 16 points.
