MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS NORTH IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Dec. 6, Minneapolis Washburn and Minneapolis North squared off in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game Washburn came into the game with a record of 8-9 while North’s record was 11-5. 

North won the toss and they looked to take their time on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the 3-point line as they got everyone involved in the offense. 

Washburn looked to move the ball around the 3-point line and take deep 3-point shots. The defensive pressure that North applied made it difficult for Washburn to take uncontested shots. 

Washburn’s David Worman looked to make deep 3-point shots and layups. His teammates got him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

North’s Mario Sanders II looked to come off screens and come up with layups and jump shots. He was very vocal on both ends of the floor. Teammate Quientrail Jamison-Travis came up with layups on the low block. He called for the ball on the low block were, he was able to come up layups. The defense had a difficult time slowing him down on the low block.

There was a pushing and shoving match with 10:45 left in the first half between both teams. 

North’s Willy Wilson got ejected for his involvement in the altercation. 

North’s De’Meiko Anderson came up with deep 3-point shots and mid-range jump shots. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. Davon Townley came up with a slam dunk that brought the crowd energy. 

Washburn struggled shooting the ball throughout the first half. Even though they struggled shooting the ball they kept on shooting it. 

North called a timeout with 6:37 left in regulation. The score was North 33, Washburn 16.

Washburn’s Josh Rogers came up with layups in transition. He was able to get past the North defense. 

Washburn called a timeout with 4:34 left in the first half. The score was North 37, Washburn 27. 

North continued to push the ball down the field and take shots in transition. Anderson came up with layups late in the first half. He was able to get to the basket with ease late in the half. 

North continued to come up with shots late in the first half. 

Washburn’s David Worman came up with layups off screens throughout the first half. 

At halftime, the score was North 48, Washburn 27.  

As the second half got underway North continued to take time off screens and came up with layups. They got everyone involved in the offense. 

North continued to get everyone involved in the offense. 

Washburn called a timeout with 15:44 left in regulation. The score was North 50, Washburn 30.

Both teams continued to attack the basket throughout the second half. 

Butler continued to come up with deep 3-point shots in the second half. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could make shots. 

North called a timeout with 12:25 left in regulation. The score was North 63, Washburn 32. 

North continued to come up with layups down the stretch. Washburn struggled shooting the ball throughout the game. Even though Washburn struggled they kept on shooting the ball. 

North was quicker than Washburn. North used their quickness to get past the Washburn defense. Washburn played hard throughout the game. 

North’s Anwar Ahmed came up with layups in late in the game. 

North came up with the 85-46 victory over Washburn.  

The leading scorers for Washburn were Worman with 13 points, Rogers with 11 points and Bilcik with 9 points. 

The leading scorers for North were Quientrail Jamison-Travis with 19 points, Davon Townley with 16 points, De'Meiko Anderson with 13 points and Jacob Butler with 11 points.
