MINNEAPOLIS NORTH WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 11, Minneapolis North and Minneapolis Southwest went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game North had a record of 14-5 while Southwest’s record was 10-8.

North looked to get into their offense early. Southwest started the game in a zone defense. North passed the ball around the 3-point line as they looked to get everyone involved in the scoring. 

The score went back and forth early. Neither team went on an early run. 

Southwest’s Ben Elias came up with steals on the defensive end and looked to turn them into layups on the offensive end. 

North’s offense struggled early as they couldn’t make a shot that they put up. Even though they struggled shooting early they kept on looking for their shots.

Southwest took a lot of time off the clock early as they passed the ball around the 3-point line. 

North’s Quientrail Jamison-Travis looked to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Both teams dove on the floor going after loose balls and rebounds. 

North’s Mario Sanders II came up with layups. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

The score went back and forth for a period

Southwest called a timeout with 10:11 left in the first half. The score was Southwest 12, North 11.

North continued to look to get to the basket and come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. North got the lead just after that timeout and they kept on attacking the basket.

North took their time on the offensive end and they passed the ball around the 3-point line getting into their offense. 

Southwest looked to come up with layups in transition. They were able to get the ball into the hands of Davon Townley came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. 

North called a timeout with 5:37 left in the first half. The score was North 26, Southwest 17.

Both teams continued to go back and forth scoring layups. 

After a slow start offensively by North, their offense came to life late in the first half.  

Southwest wasn’t afraid to take 3-point shots in the first half. Everyone crashed the boards on both ends of the floor. 

Southwest called a timeout with 3:18 left in the first half. The score was North 33, Southwest 17. 

North put on a full-court press and that made it difficult for Southwest to get the ball down the floor.

North’s De’Meiko Anderson came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. The defense had a hard time slowing him down. 

At halftime, the score was North 36, Southwest 23.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to look to get into their shooting rhythm. 

Southwest’s Christo Polydorou continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Southwest’s Hakeem Ford came up with layups and mid-range jump shots. On the defensive end, he was able to slow down the guy he was guarding. 

North kept attacking the basket in the second half and coming up with shots. 

Even though Southwest struggled shooting the ball throughout the game, they kept on shooting the ball. 

Southwest called a timeout with 11:03 left in regulation. The score was North 49, Southwest 33.

Both teams continued to go after the ball on both ends of the floor. 

Southwest’s Ben Elias came up with deep 3-point shots in the second half. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

North called a timeout with 9:33 left in regulation. The score was North 52, Southwest 38.

North continued to come up with layups and rebounds. 

Both teams played well throughout the game. Neither team gave up easy shots. Southwest struggled shooting the ball throughout the game, but with under 7:00 left in regulation, they came up with shots that they put up.

Anderson continued to come up with shots down the stretch. The defense had a hard time slowing him down. 

North called a timeout with 5:06 left in regulation. The score was North 63, Southwest 49. 

Both teams continued to go after the ball and came up with shots in the second half. 

North’s CJ Brown came up with shots late in the game. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

In a very physical game, North came up with the 77-60 victory over Southwest. 

The leading scores for Southwest were Hakeem Ford with 16 points and Christo Polydorou with 10 points. 

The leading scorers for North were Willie Wilson with 18 points, Quientrail Jamison-Travis with 11 points, and Mario Sanders II with 10 points.
