HENRY TOOK ON WASHBURN IN A HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME

Henry and Washburn squared off against each other in a football game on Oct. 16. Henry kicked off to start the game.
 
Washburn got the ball on their own 35 yard line. Washburn looked to get the ball down the field as fast as they could. They looked to get the ball into the hands of Jeff Jones, who was all over the field. He was able to get past the Henry defenders. Jones scored a touchdown on a 20 yard rush. The extra point attempt was no good.
 
With 10:21 left in the first quarter the score was Washburn 6, Henry 0.
 
Washburn kicked off after the Jones touchdown.  Henry got the ball after the kickoff on their own 31 yard line.  Henry had a rough time moving the ball down the field. They were not able to get a first down. On fourth-and-five, Henry elected to punt the ball.
 
Washburn got the ball back near midfield but there was a holding call which backed them up to their own 40.
 
Washburn’s quarterback Morley Mathewson was able to find D’Angelo Cooper for a first down. On the new set of downs. Jones picked up a first down. Jones ran the ball eight yards for a touchdown.
 
The extra point attempt was no good.
 
With 4:56 left in the first quarter the score was Washburn 12, Henry 0.
 
Washburn kicked off after the touchdown. Henry got the ball on their own 38 yard line. Henry was able to get the ball into the hands of Jawon Norton ran for a first down. Henry had a hard time moving the ball down the field. The Washburn defense stepped up big and came up with some big plays to slow down the Henry offense.
 
Washburn got the ball back on downs. They once again looked to chew up yards both by land and air. Jones caught a 44-yard pass for a touchdown but that was called back because of a penalty.
 
Washburn was not able to pick up a first down so they turned the ball over on downs near midfield.
 
After one quarter of play the score was Washburn 12, Henry 0.
 
On the first play of the second quarter Henry Tinkler for Henry came up with a reception for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 11:50 left in the second quarter the score was Washburn 12, Henry 7.
 
On the next drive Jones came up with an 87-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 11:35 left in the second quarter the score was Washburn 19, Henry 7.
 
Washburn recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff.
 
Washburn looked to keep the ball on the ground as they kept on looking for Jones to get most of their yards. On fourth-and-eight, Washburn went for it and was not able to get a first down so that resulted in a turnover.
 
Henry looked to keep the ball on the ground as they looked to get a first down. They were not able to do it so they punted the ball.
 
Washburn got the ball back on their own 45 yard line.  Jones was all over the field as he was able to chew up yards in big chunks.
 
Henry got the ball on the Washburn 38 yard line. Henry tried to move the ball down the field once again but they had a tough time getting the ball down the field. They turned it over on downs.
 
Washburn got the ball on their own 38 yard line. Jones came up with a huge catch and was able to get a first down.  
 
At halftime the score was Washburn 19, Henry 7.
 
Washburn kicked off to start the third quarter. Henry got the ball on their own 25 yard line.  Henry looked to get into an offensive rhythm early. On fourth-and-16 to go they elected to punt the ball.

Washburn got the ball on the Henry 36 yard line. Washburn got within the red zone as they kept the ball on the ground. Jones picked up another first down on a 13-yard run. Jones found the end zone on a four-yard run. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 6:52 left in the third quarter the score was Washburn 26, Henry 7.
 
Washburn kicked off after the touchdown. Henry got the ball on their own 44 yard line.
 
Henry kept the ball on the ground as they looked to get the ball in the hands of Damarius Gilmer.
 
There was a fumble on the play and Washburn recovered the ball near midfield.
 
Jones continued to pick up first downs as he led the offensive charge down the field once again.

Washburn fumbled the ball and Henry’s Anthony Jones recovered the ball for the turnover.
 
Henry’s  Tinkler came up with some nice running plays for his team. Henry was not able to pick up a first down and they turned it over to Washburn.
 
After three quarters of play the score was Washburn 26, Henry 7.
 
Jones scored from 42 yards out but there was a penalty on Washburn. The ball came back to the 47 yard line. Jones found the end zone again, this time for a 41-yard touchdown. There were no penalties on the play. The extra point attempt was good. With 10:59 left in the fourth quarter the score was Washburn 33, Henry 7.
 
Washburn kicked off after the touchdown.  Henry got the ball on their own 32 yard line. Tinkler came up with a huge reception that gave Henry a first down.  Henry found the end zone on a Norton short yard run. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 8:04 left in regulation was Washburn 33, Henry 14.
 
Henry kicked off after the touchdown. There was no return because the defense was right next to the receiver.
 
Washburn got the ball on their own 35 yard line. Washburn continued to get the ball into the hands of Jones. On fourth-and-two,Washburn picked up a first down on a 5 yard run by Jones. There was a fumble on the play and Henry took over on their own 43 yard line.
 
Henry looked to get the ball back into the hands of Tinkler. Henry looked to get into the end zone late in the contest. Henry found the end zone on a Tinkler 8-yard run. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 1:28 left in regulation the score was Washburn 33, Henry 21.

Henry kicked off after the touchdown. Washburn was not able to score again and neither was Henry.

In a hard fought clean football game Washburn came away with the 33-21 victory over Henry. I thought that Jones played very well.  He came up with some big plays to keep his team in the contest. Henry didn’t quit and didn’t give up either.
