MSU-Mankato traveled to Concordia-St. Paul for a football game. Mankato came into the game with a record of 4-0 while Concordia came into the game with a record of 3-1.
Concordia kicked off to Mankato to start the game. Mankato started the game on their own 27 yard line. Mankato used both a passing and running attack on their first drive. Mankato quarterback Jon Wolf knew where his teammates were on the field. They were able to move the ball on their first drive. On fourth-and-eight they elected to punt the ball.
Concordia got the ball on their own 20 yard line. Jered Russo, the Concordia quarterback, used both the running and passing attack on their first drive. Jermaine Clemon came up with a nice catch.
Concordia however was not able to get a first down so they had to punt.
On the punt Dennis Carter ran 84 yards for a touchdown. The two point conversion was good.
With 9:08 left to go in the first quarter the score was MSUM 8, Concordia 0.
Concordia got the ball after the touchdown. Tre Spears was able to pick up a first down on the ground. Concordia sputtered on offense on the next drive. The Mankato defense stepped up big.
Concordia had to punt on fourth-and-eight.
Mankato got the ball near midfield. Andy Pfeiffer came up with some nice runs. Wolf picked up another first down on a 15 yard run. Mankato attempted a 35 yard field goal which was good.
With 2:50 left in the first quarter the score was Mankato 11, Concordia 0.
Mankato kicked off after the touchdown. Concordia got the ball on their own 24 yard line. Spears got the ball and he picked up a five yard gain. Concordia looked to get the ball into the hands of Spears.
Gabe Boyce came up with a 10 yard reception for a first down. Concordia kept the ball on the ground.
After one quarter of play the score was Mankato 11, Concordia 0.
Boyce kept on coming up with some nice receptions early in the second quarter.
Concordia was picked off to give Mankato the ball back. Wolf kept the ball on the ground as he was able to pick up yards and first downs.
Mankato attempted a 34 yard field goal which was good.
With 7:58 left in the second quarter the score was Mankato 14, Concordia 0.
Concordia got the ball back after the touchdown. Concordia used short running and passing plays to try to move the ball down the field. Spears came up with big plays as he was able to pick up a first down. Boyce came up with another first down on a 15 yard reception. Concordia attempted a 40 yard field goal and the attempt was not good.
Mankato got the ball back after the failed field goal attempt.
Mankato got into the end zone on a Wolf 44-yard scamper with 1:03 left in the second quarter. The extra point attempt was good.
At halftime the score was Mankato 21, Concordia 0.
Mankato kicked off to start the third quarter. Concordia got the ball on their own 27 yard line. Concordia was not able to get a first down, so they had to punt the ball on fourth-down-six to go.
Mankato got the ball back on their own 15 yard line. Mankato continued to move the ball down the field and get first downs midway through the third quarter. Mankato attempted a 41 yard field goal.
The field goal was good.
With 4:26 left in the third quarter the score was Mankato 24, Concordia 0.
Mankato kicked off to Concordia after the field goal. Concordia got the ball on their own 20 yard line. Spears got a 15 yard run for a first down.
After three quarters of play the score was Mankato 24, Concordia 0.
Mankato had to punt the ball on fourth-and-five.
Concordia was not able to get a first down. Mankato hit a field goal with 10:17 left in regulation.
With that field goal that made the score Mankato 27, Concordia 0.
Concordia got the ball back on their own 30 yard line. Concordia got intercepted so Mankato got the ball back on the Concordia 38 yard line.
Mankato looked to get into the end zone again midway through the fourth quarter. Mankato fumbled the ball and Concordia came away with the ball.
Concordia took over on their own 36 yard line. They picked up big yards on a James Peterson run.
Concordia looked to get into the end zone late in the quarter. Cory Cole found the end zone on a 19 yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.
With 3:17 left in the fourth quarter the score was Mankato 27, Concordia 7.
Mankato got the ball after the Concordia touchdown. They were not able to get into the end zone so they ran the clock out late in the contest.
In a hard-fought game Mankato came away with the 27-7 victory over Concordia.
