Hopkins was able to get the ball into the hands of Xavier Johnson and John Warren both of which were able to come up with mid-range jump shots.
Hopkins was also able to score layups in transition.
Eastview’s Connor Stevens stepped up and was able to knock down mid-range jump shots and layups on the offensive end.
The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a substantial run.
At halftime the score was Eastview 33, Hopkins 22.
As the second half got underway both teams continued to move the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.
Hopkins guard Vincent Shahid came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. He was able to slow down the guy that he was guarding on defense.
The Hopkins offense came up life midway through the second half. They were able to hit layups and jump shots.
Eastview called a timeout with 10:43 left in regulation the score was Hopkins 43, Eastview 38.
The score went back and forth after the timeout. Eastview’s Drew Guebert came up with some huge baskets. He got to the basket and was able to make jump shots and layups on offense.
Hopkins called a timeout with 4:11 left in regulation. The score was Hopkins 54, Eastview 51.
The game came down to the wire. Both teams played well throughout the game. Neither team went on a run. They were two evenly matched teams.
Hopkins guard Ishmael El Amin came up with layups in the second half. He did a good job of coming off of screens and getting to the basket for layups.
Hopkins came up with 70-55 victory over Eastview.
The leading scorer for Hopkins was Warren with 31 points.
The leading scorer for Eastview was Guebert with 18 points.
