Rice Lake and Champlin Park squared off in a boys’ basketball game.
The score went back and forth early in the first half.
Champlin Park looked to get the ball into JT Gibson. Gibson came up with mid-range jump shots.
Rice Lake’s Henry Ellenson came up with deep 3-point shots.
Champlin Park did a good job of getting the ball into everyone’s hands who was on the ball. Gibson and Jeremy Johnson were able to get to the basket and make layups.
Johnson was also able to come up with deep 3-point shots late in the first half.
Champlin Park was able to make layups in transition.
At halftime the score was Champlin Park 41, Rice Lake 29.
As the second half got underway Rice Lake continued to struggle to shoot the ball. Champlin Park was a lot quicker than Rice Lake.
Rice Lake called a timeout with 10:44 left in regulation. The score was Champlin Park 56, Rice Lake 42.
Champlin Park was able to take a lot of time off the clock as they passed the ball around the 3-point line. They also took a lot of 3-point shots late in regulation.
Ellenson came up big for Rice Lake. He was able to get to the basket and hit shots late in the game. In the end however, Champlin Park was able to hold on and was able to hang on and came away with the 75-71 victory over Rice Lake.
Ellenson ended the game with 39 points and was the leading scorer for Rice Lake.
Champlin Park was lead in scoring by Gibson with 24 points, and Johnson with 20 points.
