On Jan. 16, Blake went up against Cristo Rey in a boys’ basketball game. The game was played at Patrick Henry High School.
The score went back and forth early. Cristo Rey looked to get the ball into the hands of Jericho Sims, Sims got to the basket and made mid-range jump shots and layups.
Blake’s Tenzin Choezin came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.
Blake called a timeout with 8:09 left in the first half. The score was Blake 16, Cristo Rey 11.
There were multiple ties and lead changes throughout the first half. Neither team went on a huge run.
Both teams took a lot of time off the clock in the first half by swinging the ball around the 3-point line.
At halftime, the score was Blake 35, Cristo Rey 27.
As the second half got underway Blake continued to push the ball down the floor and came up with layups in transition.
Sims came up with slam dunks and layups in the second half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
Neither team went on a run in the second half.
Blake’s Jack Moe came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half. He was very active around the basket.
Sims kept on coming up with mid-range jump shots and layups.
Blake called a timeout with 8:40 left in regulation, the score was Cristo Rey 53, Blake 48.
Choezin continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. Blake also did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense.
Blake called a timeout with 3:58 left in regulation, the score was Cristo Rey 68, Blake 58.
Cristo Rey continued to come up with shots late in the game. They did a good job of feeding Sims on the low block.
Cristo Rey came away with the 75-63 victory over Blake.
The leading scorer for Cristo Rey was Sims with 40 points.
The leading scorer for Blake was Moe with 25 points.
