Waconia and Minnehaha Academy squared off in a boys’ basketball game. Minnehaha Academy’s Jalen Suggs was all over the floor early. He stepped up and knocked down 3-point baskets and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
Waconia pushed the ball down the floor and scored layups in transition. Waconia did a good job of communicating on the floor, as they called out screens.
Minnehaha looked to trap the ball as soon as Minnehaha brought the ball across half court.
Minnehaha look a lot of time off the clock by passing the ball around the 3-point line.
There were multiple ties and lead changes throughout the first half.
Waconia called a timeout with 7:15 left in the first half. The score was Waconia 15, Minnehaha 13.
Minnehaha could score layups in transition. Waconia could keep up with Minnehaha in transition.
At halftime, the score was Minnehaha 29, Waconia 27.
As the second half got underway the score kept on going back and forth.
Suggs kept attacking the basket and made mid-range jump shots and layups.
Minnehaha did a good job of getting rebounds and got the ball down the floor.
Minnehaha called a timeout with 8:46 left in regulation. The score was Minnehaha 49, Waconia 40.
Waconia struggled shooting the ball in the second half. Minnehaha took advantage of that as they attacked the basket and came up with shots.
Minnehaha continued to come up with stops on the defensive end.
Minnehaha came away with the 71-57 victory over Waconia.
The leading scorers for Waconia were Nick Fullford with 16 points and Dillion Whittaker with 13 points.
The leading scorer for Minnehaha was Suggs with 34 points.
