On Saturday, Dec. 17, sports columnist Sid Hartman broke his right hip when he slipped on some ice on his way to an appearance at a birthday party.
Hartman was taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital and underwent a 2.5-hour surgery.
Hartman was 96 at the time of the fall.
