It was the Jr. Varsity boys’ basketball game between St. Agnes and Holy Angels that attracted my attention on January 9, 2017. The head coach of the Holy Angels team was Terrel Barnes. Barnes in an up and coming coach with the Holy Angels team. He also is an assistant on the varsity team as well.
Holy Angels looked to push the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition. They did a good job of passing the ball and getting everyone involved in the offense.
St. Agnes called a timeout with 13:43 left in the first half. The score was Holy Angels 7, St. Agnes 0.
Holy Angels came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half. St. Agnes had a difficult time scoring the basket in the first half. They were not able to make shots that they put up.
Even though St. Agnes had a difficult time scoring they kept on attacking the basket and looking to take mid-range jump shots and layups.
Holy Angels looked to take time off the clock as they passed the ball around the 3-point line. St. Agnes tried many different defenses throughout the first half.
Holy Angles did a good job of communicating with each other on the floor. They knew were each other was on the court always.
At halftime, the score was Holy Angels 37, St. Agnes 12.
Both teams started out the second half slow as neither of them could come up with baskets.
St. Agnes called a timeout with 14:42 left in regulation. The score was Holy Angels 37, St. Agnes 12.
Holy Angels looked to take time off the clock in the second half. They passed the ball around the 3-point line and took that extra pass late in their offense.
St. Agnes went into a scoring drought in the second half. They couldn’t make a shot for a period.
St. Agnes called a timeout with 11:32 left in regulation. The score was Holy Angels 44, St. Agnes 12.
Holy Angels was too much for St. Agnes. St. Agnes struggled to shoot the ball for a period and Holy Angels took advantage of that by getting to the basket with ease.
Holy Angels came away with the 68-16 victory over St. Agnes.
