MINNEAPOLIS ROOSEVELT WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Dec. 15, Minneapolis Roosevelt and Minneapolis Southwest squared off in a boys’ basketball game.
Roosevelt started the game out in a zone defense. Southwest took their time on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the 3-point line as they looked to get everyone involved in the offense.
Southwest started the game in a zone defense. They wanted to make Roosevelt take a lot of time off the clock.
Roosevelt looked to take time off the clock as they passed the ball around the 3-point line. They could get everyone involved in the play.
Roosevelt’s Jordan Johnston was all over the floor. On the offensive end, he stepped up and knocked down deep shots.
Both teams struggled to shoot the ball for a period in the first half.
There were several ties and lead changes in the first half. Neither team went on a run.
Roosevelt stepped up and knocked down deep 3-point baskets and layups.
Southwest went on a scoring slump midway through the first half. They could not hit shots that they put up.
Southwest called a timeout with 5:45 left in the first half. The score was Roosevelt 20, Southwest 11.
Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls. There were many jump balls in the first half.
Roosevelt called a timeout with 3:37 left in the first half. The score was Roosevelt 20, Southwest 14.
At halftime, the score was Roosevelt 23, Southwest 17.
Roosevelt’s Jordan Johnston came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates could get him the ball in spots here he could shoot it.
Both teams continued to exchange baskets in the second half.
Southwest continued to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition. Roosevelt also kept attacking the basket late in the game. Johnston also could keep making shots late in the game.  
Southwest called a timeout with 5:13 left in regulation. The score was Roosevelt 36, Southwest 29.
Southwest used a full court press late in the game. They wanted to make it difficult for Roosevelt to bring the ball down the floor.
Roosevelt called a timeout with 2:09 left in regulation. The score was Roosevelt 37, Southwest 35.
Both teams attacked the basket late in the game.
Southwest called a timeout with 1:00 left in regulation. The score was Roosevelt 43, Southwest 37.
Both teams played hard throughout the game, neither team gave up.
Roosevelt came away with the 49-39 victory over Southwest.
The leading scorers for Roosevelt were Desi Sims and Johnston each with 13 points.
The leading scorers for Southwest were Brennan Hawkins with 12 points and Niko Polydorou with 11 points.
