Holy Angels kicked off to Hutchinson to start the Class 4A State football championship. Holy Angels was not able to get a first down on their first drive as they turned it over on downs.
Hutchinson scored a touchdown on a 76-yard run by Robbie Grimsley. The extra-point attempt by Marcus Hahn was good.
With 9:35 left in the first quarter the score was Hutchinson 7, Holy Angels 0.
Hutchinson was able to move the ball down the field on the ground. Grimsley came up with a 57-yard touchdown run. The extra-point attempt was good.
The score with 2:49 left in the first quarter the score was Hutchinson 14, Holy Angels 0.
Holy Angels looked to get the ball into the hands of Adam Hoffman. On fourth-and-five, Holy Angels elected to punt the ball.
Hutchinson got a touchdown on a 92-yard run by Grimsley. The extra-point attempt by Hahn was good.
With 23 seconds left in the first quarter the score was Hutchinson 21, Holy Angels 0. That was the score after one quarter of play.
Holy Angels punted the ball on fourth down and Tory Adams ran it 50 yards for a touchdown. Hahn’s extra-point attempt was good.
With 10:28 left in the second quarter the score was Hutchinson 28, Holy Angels 0.
Holy Angels looked to get their offense going. On fourth-and-13 Holy Angels punted the ball.
Hutchinson found the endzone again on an Adams 21-yard run. The extra-point attempt was good.
With 5:59 left in the second quarter the score was Hutchinson 35, Holy Angels 0.
Holy Angels took to the air late in the second quarter. They were able to pick up a first down on Hoffman reception.
At halftime the score was Hutchinson 35, Holy Angels 0.
Hutchinson kicked off to start the third quarter. Holy Angels used a lot of clock by running the ball in the third quarter.
Hutchinson got the ball back with 4:30 in the third quarter. They kept the ball in the hands of Adams. Adams continued to look for holes in the Holy Angels defense.
The score after three quarters of play was Hutchinson 35, Holy Angels 0.
Adams found the endzone again on a six-yard touchdown run. The extra-point attempt was good.
With 10:53 left in the fourth quarter the score was Hutchinson 42, Holy Angels 0.
Holy Angels got the ball after the touchdown. They turned it over again with 4:55 left in the fourth quarter Adams found the endzone again on a nice nine-yard touchdown run.
Holy Angels got the ball back after the Hutchinson touchdown and Anthony Ekholm came up with an eight-yard touchdown run with 13 seconds left to go. Connor Failor’s extra-point was good.
Hutchinson came away with the 49-7 victory over Holy Angels.
I was able to talk to Hutchinson’s Adams, Grimsley and head coach Andy Rostberg about the victory and the season.
