Prior Lake and St. Francis went up against each other in a boys basketball game at St. Cloud Apollo high school as part of the Minnesota Breakdown Tip-Off Classic.
Both teams traded baskets to start the game. Prior Lake did a good job of pushing the ball down the floor as they looked to get baskets in transition.
Prior Lake’s Austin Heidecker stepped up big and knocked down shots for his team. His team did a good job of getting him the ball.
St. Francis passed the ball around the three-point line as they looked to get into an offensive shooting rhythm.
Prior Lake did a good job of moving the ball down the floor and getting set up in an offensive set.
Neither team went on a run in the first half.
The defensive pressure that Prior Lake applied made it difficult for St. Francis to get open looks at the basket.
Prior Lake’s John Sobaski was able to knock down shots from within the three-point line. He was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor.
At halftime the score was Prior Lake 31, St. Francis 27.
Heidecker for Prior Lake came up big and was able to knock down shots from inside the three-point line.
There were many ties and lead changes in the second half. Neither team was able to go on a run in the second half.
Prior Lake took their time of the offensive end. They moved the ball well on the offensive end.
Both teams played with a lot of emotion and intensity. Neither team gave up easy baskets.
Prior Lake called a timeout with 11:32 left in regulation, the score was St. Francis 45, Prior Lake 41.
Sobaski continued to knock down shots. He was able to take the ball the length of the court and hit layups.
St. Francis called a timeout with 8:28 left in regulation, the score was Prior Lake 50, St. Francis 47.
The score continued to go back and forth late in the contest. St. Francis continued to look to get basket for shots. They were able to stay in the game as they were able to hit their shots that they put up.
St. Francis kept the defensive pressure on Prior Lake the last two minutes of the game. They wanted to make Prior Lake turn it over. Prior Lake was able to hold onto the ball and kept making plays late.
Both teams fought hard throughout the contest. Neither team went on a huge run in the game. Prior
Lake was able to come away with the 72-59 victory over St. Francis.
The leading scores for St. Francis were Jake Johnson with 16 points, Nate Svihel with 15 points and Blake Moreno with 11 points.
The leading scorers for Prior Lake were Sobaski with 17 points, and Bair with 16 points.
