On Oct. 23 Andover went up against St. Francis in a Section 7 Class 5A playoff game at St. Francis.
St. Francis kicked off to Andover to start the game. Andover started on their own 26-yard line.
Andover looked to air the ball out early. Andover’s Adam Perrin came up with a first down reception. The St. Francis defense came up big. On 4th-and-13 Andover punted it.
St. Francis started on their own 34-yard line. Max Green came up with some big plays but the offence stalled and they punted on 4th-and-4. There was an off sides call on Andover which resulted in a first down for St. Francis. St. Francis didn’t want to take a lot of time off the clock between plays. St. Francis running back Max Greene was able to get past the Andover defense. On 4th-and-11 St. Francis they went for it but they were not able to come up with a first down.
Andover switched up between passing and running plays. On 4th-and-2 Andover went for it and Jacob Geier came up with a first down. Geier came up with big plays throughout.
St. Francis called a timeout with 3:19 left in the first quarter. The score was tied at 0.
Perrin came up with another first down reception. Geier came up with a 2 yard touchdown run. The extra-point attempt was no good.
With 2:49 left in the first quarter the score was Andover 6, St. Francis 0.
St. Francis took over on their own 20-yard line. St. Francis Isaiah Brunette came up with some good plays under pressure. On 4th-and-8 they punted the ball.
Andover took over on their own 42-yard line. Jacob Paul came up with a first down reception.
St. Francis called a timeout with 15.4 seconds left in the first quarter. The score was Andover 6, St. Francis 0.
On 4th-and-10 Andover went for it and Newman came up with a 12 yard run for a first down.
After one quarter of play the score was Andover 6, St. Francis 0.
Andover kept looking to air the ball out. Geier once again looked to get the ball in his hands. On 4th-and-6 they went for it. Geier got the first down. Geier came up with 5-yard touchdown reception.
The two-point run by Paul was good.
With 10:35 left in the second quarter the score was Andover 14, St. Francis 0.
The ball went into the end zone for a touchback so St. Francis took over on their own 20-yard line.
Greene came up with another huge run. Greene came up with a 24-yard run. Greene kept on coming up with short runs. Isaiah Brunette came up with a 5-yard touchdown run. The extra-point attempt was good.
With 5:45 left in the second quarter the score was Andover 14, St. Francis 7.
Andover took over on their own 26-yard line. Geier once again got the ball in his hands and came up with 9 yards. Andover did a good job of moving the ball down the field through the air.
St. Francis called a timeout with 2:15 left the second quarter. The score was Andover 14, St. Francis 7. On 4th-and-7 Andover went for it but the St. Francis defense stepped up and stopped them.
St. Francis let the clock run out.
At halftime the score was Andover 14 St. Francis 7.
Andover kicked off to start the third quarter. The ball went into the end zone for a touchback. St. Francis got a first down on a Greene 6-yard reception. St. Francis kept the ball on the ground midway through the third quarter. Greene came up with a 21-yard run for a first down.
St. Francis called a timeout with 3:38 left in the third quarter. The score was Andover 14, St. Francis 7.
Andover got the ball on downs.
Andover looked to get the ball down the field late in the quarter. Adam Perrin came up with a 27 yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.
With 20.9 seconds left in the third quarter the score was Andover 21, St. Francis 7.
St. Francis took over on their own 20-yard line.
The score after three quarters was Andover 21, St. Francis 7.
St. Francis looked to get the ball in the end zone early in the fourth quarter. St. Francis turned the ball over on downs.
Andover looked to take time off the clock late in the fourth quarter.
Andover called a timeout with 2:12 left in the fourth quarter. The score was Andover 21, St. Francis 7.
St. Francis got the ball back on their own 13-yard line. St. Francis looked to go into a hurry up offence with 1:30 left in the game.
St. Francis found the end zone again on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Trautman to Hoechen. The extra-point attempt was good.
With 32.9 seconds the score was Andover 21, St. Francis 14.
In a hard fought game in a sometimes heated game Andover came away with the 21-14 victory. With the win Andover advances to the state football tournament.
