ROCHESTER MAYO WENT UP AGAINST EAST RIDGE IN THE CLASS AA STATE BOYS SOCCER QUARTERFINALS

On Oct. 28 Rochester Mayo went up against East Ridge in the Class AA state boys quarterfinals in boys’ soccer.

 

Mayo did a good job of moving the ball down the field and getting everyone involved in the plays.

 

Neither team took an uncontested shot on goal in the first half.

 

East Ridge looked to spread out the defense. East Ridge’s Jarrod Ronquillo scored a goal with 10:12 left in the first half.

 

With that goal that made the score East Ridge 1, Mayo 0.

 

Both teams continued to move the ball down the field well late in the first half.

 

At halftime the score was East Ridge 1, Mayo 0.

 

As the second half got underway both teams continued to attack the goal.

 

East Ridge continued to attack the goal. The Mayo goalie did a good job of blocking the shots on goal.

 

Neither team gave up on the plays. It was a very hard fought game throughout the game.

 

East Ridge’s Collin Sieffert scored a goal with 11:15 left in the second half.

 

With that goal that made the score East Ridge 2, Mayo 0.

 

Mayo fought hard throughout the game. They were not able to come up with a goal.

 

East Ridge came away with the 2-0 victory over Mayo.

 

With that win East Ridge advances to the state semifinals.
