MAHTOMEDI AND TOTINO GRACE SQUARE OFF IN CLASS A SEMI FINAL GAME

Mahtomedi and Totino Grace squared off at the Metrodome in the state boy’s semi final action. Both of these teams attacked the goals early and often in the first half.

Both teams were playing very scrappy on both ends of the field. The goalies for each of these teams have done a good job blocking the balls that came towards them. They were able to block several balls and defend their goals.

Both teams went after each other in the first half. Neither team gave up.

One of the interesting things that I noticed was when Jon Ebert for Totino Grace throws the ball into play he does a frount flip with the ball on the ground he flips forward and then passes the ball in. I have not seen this done before.

At half time the score was tied at 0.

Both teams came out on the attack in the second half. Mahtomedi’s defenders played solid throughout the game. They were able to steal the ball away from Totino Grace.

Both teams played very aggressively throughout the game.

At the end of regulation the score was tied at 0. After the first overtime the score was tied at 0.

Neither team was able to score in the second overtime and the game went to penalty kicks.

Mahtomedi was able to win the game on penalty kicks. The final score was 1-0. I was able to talk to Tabor Wolde who scored the winning penalty kick and Paul Beggin Mahtomedi’s head coach.
