Waterville-Elysian-Morristown took on Eden Valley Walkins in the class AA semi final game. EVW came out pumped up as they were looking to score early in game. EVW tried to find the end zone but they instead turned it over on downs.
After the first quarter the score was tied at 0.
WEM threatened to score early in the second quarter. With 11:41 left to go in the second quarter Conrad Musburg scored a two-yard rushing touchdown and Tyler Ranslow made the extra point. With that touchdown the score was WEM 7 and EVW 0.
EVW was able to make a drive after the WEM touchdown. Ryan Tri made a one-yard rush for EVW. The extra point was good.
At the end of the second quarter the score was tied at 7.
Both teams came out and wanted to put points on the board early. EVW took the air early in the third quarter. They were going to 10-yard plays. They were looking to also go to air early in the third quarter. EVW looked to score on short yardage. They had to settle for a field goal. Then they decided to try a trick play. Kevin Kramer scored the touchdown. The extra point attempt was no good.
After that touchdown the score was EVW 13 and WEM 7.
At the end of the third quarter the score remained EVW 13 and WEM 7.
WEM drove down the field and threatened to score and they did they did just that with a Conrad Masburg touchdown. The extra point was no good. The score was again tied, this time at 13.
With 1:39 left, Kevin Kramer went to the ground and got roughed up. He has come up with big plays throughout the game. He has really done a good job on the defensive end.
The game went into over time. Grant Pope was able to come up with the winning touchdown. WEM came away with the 21-20 victory. I was able to talk to the head coach Jon Bakken and Conrad Masberg from WEM.
