St Thomas kicked off to Sartell-St.Stephen’s to begin the Class AAAA semi-final game. Sartell-St.Stephen’s threatened to score early in the contest. They did just that as Joshua Kremer scored a touchdown with 5:49 left to go in the first quarter.
Sartell-St.Stephen’s made a drive late in the first quarter. They scored a 23-yard touchdown with 19 seconds left to go in the first quarter.
The first quarter ended with the score Sartell-St.Stephen’s 14 and St Thomas Academy 0.
St Thomas Academy got the ball in the second quarter and they wanted to get a touchdown and with 10:07 they did just that as Danny Abbott found John Gray in the end zone on a 9-yard pass in the end zone. John Garry made the extra point attempt. With that touchdown the score was Sartell-St.Stephen’s 14 and St Thomas Academy 7.
Both teams played very hard in the first half. Both teams came out with a lot of energy from the start of the game.
St Thomas Academy threatened to score late in the second quarter. They were able to find the end zone on a Dan Freund five-yard run.
At the end of the first half the score was tied at 14.
Both teams came out fired up and ready to play in the third quarter. St.Stephen’s got the ball to begin the third quarter. St. Stephen’s threatened to score midway through the third quarter. They found then end zone on a Joshua Karmmer touchdown. The extra point was good.
With that touchdown the score was Sartell-St.Stephen’s 21 and St Thomas Academy 14.
St Thomas Academy threatened to score late in the third quarter.
St.Stephen’s Joshua Krammer scored another touchdown making it his third touchdown of the day. The score after that touchdown made it Sartell-St.Stephen’s 28 and St Thomas Academy 14.
With 6:48 left in the fourth quarter, St Thomas Academy found the end zone on a zz touchdown. The extra point was good with that touchdown. The score was Sartell St. Stephen’s 28 and St Thomas Academy 21.
With 1:14 left in regulation Augie Braddock had a 46-yard pass from John Gray for a St Thomas touchdown.
Cole Karsky scored a 28-yard field goal for Sartell-St.Stephen’s .
Sartell-St. Stephen’s was able to come away with the 31-29 victory. I was able to talk to Sartell- St. Stephen’s head coach John Russ, and player Rob Vershell.
