Adrian took on Minneota in the Class A boys state final game. Minnneota was able to get on the board early in the game. They were able to get a touchdown on a Brandon Anderson 19 yard run. Victor Santos’ extra point attempt was good.
Minneota was able to get another touchdown with 5:42 left to go in the first quarter. Will Kruka caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Sam Derynck. The extra point was good.
Adrian got the ball back when Minnetoa got the touchdown. They went to the air early in the in the game as they looked to strike in the first quarter. They were able to get a touchdown with 1:02 left to go in the first quarter. The extra point was good. With that touchdown at 1:02 in the first quarter the score was Minneota 14 and Adrian 7.
At the end of the first quarter the score was Minneota 14 and Adrian 7.
With 10:39 left to go in the second quarter Jesus Macias scored a touchdown on a reception for Minneota. The point after was no good.
Adrian threatened to score late in the second quarter. Brett Nowotny scored a touchdown on 3-yard run with 4:56 left in the second quarter. The extra point attempt was good.
Minneota scored with 54 seconds left in the quarter. Adam Dieckman’s kick was good.
At halftime the score was Minneota 28 and Adrian 14.
Adrian got the ball to begin the third quarter. They wanted to try to get a quick start early in the third quarter.
Adam Dikemann scored a touchdown on a 20-yard touchdown catch with 7:02 left to go in the third quarter.
Dikemann also scored the extra point. With that touchdown the score was Minneota 28 and Adrian 21.
Minneota was able to get a touchdown late in the third quarter. The touchdown came on a Brandon Anderson short yard run. The extra point was good. With 1:23 left to go in the third quarter the score was Minneota 35 and Adrian 21.
At the end of the third quarter the score was Minneota 35 and Adrian 21.
Minneota wanted to control the clock throughout the second half and they did just that. With 6:25 left to go in the fourth quarter Tony Noyes scored a touchdown for Minneota. The extra point was good.
With 6:25 left to go in regulation the score was Minneota 42 and Adrian 21.
Both teams played a good game. They both came out to battle. But in the end Minneota was able to come away with the 42-21 victory.
I was able to talk to Mineota players Sam Derynck, Tony Noyes and head coach Chad Johnston about the victory.
