THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA MENS BASKETBALL TEAM HOSTED MINNESOTA STATE MOORHEAD IN THEIR SECOND EXHBITION GAME

The University of Minnesota men’s basketball team hosted Minnesota State Moorhead in their final exhibition game of the season.

The Gophers wanted to try to get the tempo going in their favor early in the game. That was a concern for Tubby Smith against UMD in their first game.

The Gophers really came out of the gates strong as they were able to get a big lead Moorhead State. They were able to hit the shots that they were putting up.

The Gophers played tight defense in the first half. They were in the Morehead State players’ faces as they were going after every loose ball.

Rodney Williams went hard after rebounds when he was in the game. He was diving on the ground and playing really aggressively.

Moorhead State really didn’t know what hit them. The Gophers were just too much for them. The Gophers were playing hard. They didn’t back down.

The pace of the game was in the Gophers’ favor. They were able to get the ball and run in transition. Damian Johnson was able to get the ball out in transition and he got the ball and made some nice dunks.

The Gophers looked to spread the floor in transition. Rodney Williams has explosive energy and he can jump out of the gym. He has energy that can lead to good shots and great dunks.

The Gophers had a 42-20 half time lead.

The Gophers came out in the second half on fire and they were hitting shots that they were putting up. Lawrence Westbrook played well during the game.

Everyone for the Gophers team played with a lot of enthusiasm throughout the game. They were really into the game.

Ralph Sampson was able to show his skills on the low block as he was able post his defender up. He was also able to shoot a little soft jump shot and make it from the low block.

With 4:14 left in regulation redshirt freshman Dominique Dawson entered the game.

The Gophers were able to come away with the 98-49 victory. Here is what head Minnesota basketball coach Tubby Smith had to say along with Devoe Joseph about the game.

The attendance at the game was 11,439.
