ORONO IS THE CLASS A MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE GIRLS SOCCER CHAMPION

In the girls state soccer Class A championship game it was Blake against Orono.

With 27:21 left in the first quarter Kerrie Dingmann got a goal for Orono and Amy Larson got the assist. With that goal the score was Orono 1 and Blake 0.

With 21:52 left in the first half Orono scored another goal as Sophie Babo and Nikki Smith got the assist.
With that goal the score was Orono 2 and Blake 0.

Both teams played hard throughout the first half. Both teams were able to get the ball up the field with ease. They were both battling each other.

With 10:06 left in regulation Sophie Babo scored another goal for Orono and Nikki Smith got the assist. That was the same scoring as Orono’s first goal.

At the half time intermission the score was Orono 3 and Blake 0.

Orono came out strong in the second half. With 38:28 Nikki Smith scored a goal for Orono and Caitlyn Quilty got the assist.

With that goal the score was Orono 4 and Blake 0.

With 33:49 Sophie Babo scored another goal for Orono. Kerrie Dingmann got the assist. That made the score Orono 5 and Blake 0.

Sophie is the youngest player on the Orono team as she is only a seventh grader. She attends Orono Middle School.

Orono won the class AA girls state championship game by the final score of 5-0. I was able to talk to Orono’s head coach Erin Murray, forward Sophie Babo and Nikki Smith.
