MINNEAPOLIS DE LASALLE HOSTED FRIDLEY IN A BOYS’ REGION 3AAA BASKETBALL CONTEST

De LaSalle hosted Fridley in a boys’ basketball region quarterfinal game. De LaSalle had a 21-4 record going into the game. They were ranked number 5 in the state in class AAA. Fridley had a record of 7-16 going into the contest. De LaSalle had the number one seed in the section and Fridley had the number 8 seed in the section.

Both teams started the game playing tough man-to-man defense. Both teams wanted to gain tempo from the beginning.

Fridley took their time on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the three-point perimeter. They wanted to look for the open guy. Lamont Diggs found his shot early on for Fridley. He has not afraid to shoot the ball.

De LaSalle played well on the defensive end. They really put a lot of pressure on Fridley. They really played aggressively on both ends of the court. They went on a run with 13 minutes in the first half. There was nothing that Fridley could do so slow them down. Fridley didn’t get discouraged though they kept on playing hard. They were able to shoot their way back in the game.

De LaSalle was able to make shots in the first half. They did not back down from Fridley’s pressure. They were able to get some easy steals and they were able to convert them to points.

De LaSalle did a good job of using the clock. They were able to chew the clock in the first half. They were looking for their shot they wanted to take.

At half time the score was De LaSalle 48 and Fridley 16.

As the second half got underway De LaSalle was able to go on a run. Walter Franklen really played well. He was able to score whenever he wanted to. Franklen played well on both ends of the floor.

De LaSalle continued to shoot the ball well in the second half. Fridley was not able to make their shots.

De LaSalle was able to come away with the 82-47 victory over Fridley.

The leading scorers for Fridley were Lamont Diggs with 11 points and Jimmy Mireri with 10 points. De LaSalle was lead in scoring by Jonah Travis 20 points and Jalen Jaspers.
