MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST TOOK ON HOPKINS IN REGION 6AAAA BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Minneapolis Southwest Lakers played a game against Hopkins in the region quarterfinals. Whomever wins goes on into the semi finals. Whomever losses, their season is over.

Hopkins came out playing tough aggressive man-to-man defense. They wanted to try to get a jump on Southwest early on.

Hopkins seemed to keep the pressure on Southwest in the early goings. Hopkins played very aggressively in the early goings. They didn’t back off the pressure in the first half.

Marvin Singleton was able to step up big in the first half and make some shots. He was not afraid to drive hard to the basket.

Hopkins was able to make shots in the first half. They did a good job of passing the ball around and taking their time on the offensive end.

The first half belonged to Hopkins. They were able to make shots and they were also more physical.

At half time the score was Hopkins 52, Southwest 23.

As the second half got underway DJ Peterson kept knocking down shots. His teammates got him the ball and he was in possession to score the easy basket.

Southwest didn’t give up. They kept on trying hard to make shots. On the defensive end they didn’t back down.

The mercy rule was put into effect in the second half. If a team leads with more than 35 points the clock runs.

Hopkins ran away with the 83-38 victory over Minneapolis Southwest.
