PARKERS PRAIRIE TOOK ON BARNUM IN THE CLASS A GIRLS STATE SEMIFINAL GAME

In the second Class A semifinal game it was Parkers Prairie against Barnum. Both teams tried to gain the tempo early in the game.


Both teams had difficulty getting into their offense in the beginning of the game. Parkers Prairie used a tough man-to-man defense. They wanted to apply pressure and try to rattle Barnum.


Both teams traded baskets and the lead went back and forth midway through the first half. Neither team was able to go on a run to begin the game.


The game was a tight throughout the first part of the first half. Both teams were trying to feel each other out.


Both teams were evenly matched. They both played very aggressively. Barnum played man-to-man defense. They did a good job of getting into Parkers Prairie’s players’ faces.


Defense was the key in the first half. Each team played very well on the defensive end. They made it tough for the other team to shoot.


Jessica Newman for Barnum found her shot. Her range was in the middle of the paint. Her teammates did a good job of getting her the ball when she was in the middle of the paint.


At half time the score was Barnum 28 and Parkers Prairie 20.


Both teams seemed like they had more energy and enthusiasm, as they were really fired up and playing aggressively.


Parkers Prairie went on a run in the beginning of the second half. They were able to get back into the game.


In a game of runs Parkers Prairie went on a run midway through the second half. Barnum took their time running their offense. They didn’t want to rush the shots that they were taking.


Barnum was able to come away with the 61-52 victory over Parkers Prairie. The leading scorers for Barnum were Sarah Myhere with 24 points, Katrina Newman with 18 points and Jessica Newman 11 points.


The leading scorers for Parkers Prairie were Sari Noga with 18 and Madison Dorn with 12.


I was able to talk to Barnum head coach Randy Myhre and Sarah Myhre.
