MAPLE GROVE WENT UP AGAINST CHAMPLIN PARK IN A GIRLS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 20, Maple Grove took on Champlin Park in a girls’ basketball game. Going into the game Maple Grove came into the game with an overall record of 10-4. Champlin Park had an overall record of 7-7.

Champlin Park started in a matchup zone defense. Champlin Park’s Allison Gerads came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half.

Maple Grove had a difficult time scoring baskets early in the first half. Maple Grove passed the ball around the 3-point line. They were able to get everyone involved in the offense.

The score went back and forth for a period of time in the first half.

Champlin Park’s Hanna Crymble and Caterta Etheridge both came up with mid-range jump shots in the first half.

Maple Grove looked like they were a little out of sync in the first half.

Champlin Park called a timeout with 8:02 left in the first half. The score was Champlin Park 17, Maple Grove 12.

Champlin Park continued to get the ball into the hands of Gerads. Gerads was able to get to the basket and make layups and mid-range jump shots.

At halftime the score was Champlin Park 33, Maple Grove 29.

As the second half got underway Champlin Park looked to get the ball into the hands of Gerads. She was able to make her layups and mid-range jump shots.

Crymble came up with layups throughout the second half. The defense had a hard time slowing her down.

Champlin Park was able to wear Maple Grove down.

Crymble continued to come up with huge shots late in the second half.

Champlin Park came away with the 66-55 victory over Maple Grove.

The leading scorers for Maple Grove were Barta with 23 points and Schmidt with 13 points.

The leading scorers for Champlin Park were Gerads with 21 points, and Crymble and Hicks each with 15 points.
