MINNEAPOLIS SOUTH WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS NORTH IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 6 Minneapolis South High School traveled to Minneapolis North High School for a Minneapolis city conference boys’ basketball game.


South’s Darrius Clinton and Michael Harris came out on fire. They were able to make mid-range jump shots and layups.

North called a timeout with 14:59 left in the first half. The score was South 8, North 2.

South came up with steals and were able to come up with layups off the steals.

North struggled on the offensive end early in the first half. They were not able to hit shots that they put up.

South was able to get to the basket and make their shots.

North called a timeout with 4:48 left in the first half. The score was South 32, North 18.

North couldn’t get their offense going in the first half.

At halftime the score was South 36, North 26.

As the second half got underway South continued to look to get everyone the ball and make baskets in transition.

South’s Johnny Turner came up with layups and mid-range jump shots in the second half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

North’s Tyler Johnson attacked the rim and came up with layups.

North got its offense going in the second half. They came up steals and turned them into points in the second half.

South’s Michael Harris came up with huge 3-point shots and mid-range jump shots throughout the second half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball where he could shoot it.

North’s Ahzerik Rodgers came up with layups on the offensive end. On defense Rodgers was able to slow down the defenders. He received a technical foul for slamming the ball against the call when it went out of bounds.

Both teams played hard throughout the game. North struggled to shoot the ball. South was able to take North out of their shooting rhythm.

South came away with the 84-74 victory over North.  

The leading scorers for South were Payton Bowdry with 19 points, Taron Myers with 16 points, and Kyle Lumbar and Johnny Turner each with 15 points.

The leading scorers for North were Johnson with 23 points, Jamil Jackson with 18 points and Rodgers with 10 points.
