ST. ANTHONY TOOK ON MINNEAPOLIS ROOSEVELT IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 19, St. Anthony went up against Minneapolis Roosevelt in a boys’ basketball game. The game was part of the 2015 Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Classic that was played at Henry High School.

St. Anthony started out in zone defense. It took a while for each team to get into an offensive shooting rhythm.

Roosevelt’s Ibrahim Elliot came up with mid-range jump shots in the first half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Roosevelt called a timeout with 11:44 left in the first half. The score was Roosevelt 10, St. Anthony 4.

St. Anthony had a difficult time attacking the basket. The Roosevelt defense gave them problems throughout the first half. They kept on shooting the ball.

St. Anthony called a timeout with 7:48 left in the first half. The score was Roosevelt 16, St. Anthony 6.

St. Anthony struggled shooting the ball throughout the first half. They were able to take shots but they just couldn’t get them to drop.

At halftime the score was Roosevelt 24, St. Anthony 10.

Roosevelt’s London Cobbs was all over the floor. He came up with mid-range jump shots. The defense had a hard time slowing him down.

Roosevelt was able to score baskets in transition. They were able to run the court well and was able to beat St. Anthony down the floor.

St. Anthony kept attacking the basket and moved the ball around the 3-point line as they looked for their shots.

St. Anthony called a timeout with 9:32 left in regulation. The score was Roosevelt 36, St. Anthony 17.

St. Anthony struggled to shoot the ball throughout the game. Roosevelt was quicker than St. Anthony and Roosevelt was able to convert steals into layups.

St. Anthony called a timeout with 8:18 left in regulation. The score was Roosevelt 42, St. Anthony 18.

St. Anthony trapped Roosevelt as they looked to create turnovers late in regulation.

Cobbs continued to come up with huge shots down the stretch for Roosevelt.

Roosevelt came away with the 58-30 victory over St. Anthony.

St. Anthony was lead in scoring by Knutson with 10 points.

Roosevelt was lead in scoring by Cobbs with 17 points.
