WEST SALEM TOOK ON WASECA IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

West Salem went up against Waseca in a boys’ basketball game. West Salem looked to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.  

The score went back and forth early in the game. Waseca got the ball down the floor quickly as they looked to score baskets in transition.

West Salem was able to hit 3-point baskets. They were not afraid to shoot the deep shot if they thought that they had a good chance of making it.

There were several ties and lead changes throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.

West Salem played mostly zone defense in the first half. They wanted Waseca to take deep 3-point baskets. Waseca swung the ball around the 3-point baskets to take time off the clock.

At halftime the score was West Salem 37, Waseca 34.

West Salem got the ball into the hands of Baily Williams. Williams got to the basket and was able to make his mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting the ball to him where he could shoot it.

West Salem called a time out with 12 minutes to play. The score was tied at 52.

Waseca got the ball into the hands of Nick Dufault. Dufault came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

Waseca called a timeout with 8:52 left in regulation. The score was Waseca 61, West Salem 54.

West Salem’s Baily Williams was all over the floor. He came up with huge baskets and the defense had a difficult time slowing him down on offense.

West Salem went to a zone trapping defense in the second half. They looked to create turnovers and layups off the turnovers.

The game came down to the wire. The score went back and forth late.

The game was tied at 72 at the end of regulation.

As the overtime period got underway both teams continued to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.

Dufault came up with big shots in the overtime period.

The score went back and forth throughout the overtime period.

Waseca came away with the 77-76 victory over West Salem.

The leading scorer for West Salem was Williams with 39 points.

The leading scorer for Waseca was Dufault with 35 points.
