PRIOR LAKE WENT UP AGAINST BURNSVILLE IN A GIRLS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 13 Prior Lake squared off against Burnsville in a girls’ basketball game. It took a while for each team to figure out what the other team was doing.

Burnsville’s Emma Fee came up with layups early. Her teammates did a good job of getting her the ball in spots where she could make shots.

Prior Lake did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. They swung the ball around the 3-point line and looked to get the ball inside.

Prior Lake looked to get the ball into the hands of Shaye Barton. Barton was able to attack the basket and made layups in the paint.

Fee kept on getting layups. Her teammates did a good job of feeding her the ball in the paint.

Prior Lake called a timeout with 5:31 left in the first half. The score was Burnsville 23, Prior Lake 20.

Both teams pushed the ball down the floor and were able to score baskets in transition.

Prior Lake’s Sam McElwain came up with mid-range jump shots late in the first half. She knew where her teammates were on the floor. If she thought that she had a good shot she wouldn’t be afraid to shoot it.

Neither team went on a huge run in the first half.

At halftime the score was Burnsville 27, Prior Lake 23.

As the second half got underway Burnsville’s Hanna Mitby and Fee continued to come up with huge baskets.

Prior Lake did a good job of attacking the basket. Prior Lake’s Riley Whetcraft was able to hit mid-range jump shots easily.

Burnsville went to a man-to-man defense in the second half. They wanted to make it hard for Prior Lake to bring the ball down the floor.

Prior Lake called a timeout with 11:23 left in regulation. The score was Prior Lake 48, Burnsville 35.

Prior Lake’s defense made it difficult for Burnsville to come up with baskets in the second half.

Burnsville went ice cold from the field for a period of time in the second half.

Burnsville struggled to shoot throughout the second half. The Prior Lake defense came up with huge stops.

Prior Lake came away with the 73-64 victory over Burnsville.

The leading scorers for Prior Lake were Barton with 19 points, Hurubin 18 points and McElwain with 13 points.  

The leading scores for Burnsville were Fee with 21 points and Mitby with 20 points.
