BETTENDORF TOOK ON CRETIN-DERHAM HALL IN A BASKETBALL GAME

In the second game of the 2014 Minnesota Timberwolves Shootout Bettendorf (Iowa) went up against Cretin-Derham Hall.

The game got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor. Bettendorf raced out to a quick 16-10 lead with 12:25 left in the first half. Bettendorf called a quick 30-second timeout.

Cretin-Derham Hall got the ball into the hands of Sam Neuman. Neuman was not afraid to take the ball hard to the basket. He was able to make layups.

The score was close throughout the first half. Neither team went on a huge run. The defensive pressure that each team applied made it difficult for either team to go on a huge run.

Bettendorf used a full court press that was able to create turnovers.  Bettendorf used that to their advantage as they were able to score points on the turnovers.

The score went back and forth late in the first half. Neither team went on a substantial run.

At halftime the score was Bettendorf 28, Cretin-Derham Hall 25.

As the second half got underway Bettendorf looked to get the ball into the hands of Nicholas Baer, Kyle Buhman and Dlyan Sortillo. Those three took most of the shots for Bettendorf.

The score remained close in the second half. Neither team went on a run.

Bettendorf guard Kendell Jacks came up with some nice baskets late in the game. His teammates did a good job getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Neuman came up with some deep three-point shots late in the ball game to keep Cretin-Derham Hall in the contest.

The game came down to the wire. Neither team gave up easy baskets down the stretch.

Bettendorf came away with the 71-66 victory over Cretin-Derham Hall.

As a team Bettendorf shot 29-65 from the field that included going 6-18 from behind the three-point line. They brought down a total of 41 rebounds 26 of them on the defensive end. Bettendorf was lead in scoring by Sortillo with 19 points, Baer with 16 points and Jacks with 14 points.
