ST. RITA TOOK ON DELASALLE IN A BASKETBALL GAME

St. Rita (Ill.) went up against Minneapolis DeLaSalle in a basketball game at the Target Center.  
 
Both teams looked to push the ball down the floor early. Neither team shot the ball well in the opening minutes of the game. Both teams played an aggressive man-to-man style of defense that didn’t allow for open shots.
 
DeLaSalle looked to get the ball into the hands of Sacar Anim. Anim was able to get to the basket and make his shots.  
 
Neither team put up a lot of shots in the first half due to the stingy defense each team played.  
Both teams’ offense stalled for a portion of time in the first half as neither team was able to make a basket.
 
St. Rita guard Treston Forbes looked to get his team into an offensive flow. He did a good job of running their offense and was able to get his guys in spots where they knew that they were supposed to be on the floor.
 
DeLaSalle’s defensive pressure slowed down St. Rita on the offensive end. St. Rita had a difficult time shooting the ball.
 
At halftime the score was DeLaSalle 25, St. Rita 15.
 
As the second half got underway DeLaSalle continued to look to move the ball well on the offensive end. St. Rita came out in a zone defense and they looked to spread the DeLaSalle offense out.
 
St. Rita came out fired up in the second half, as they tied the game at 38 with just under 10:00 left to go in regulation.
 
St. Rita looked to get the ball into the hands of Charles Matthews and  Forbes who both were able to hit shots that they put up.
 
Dominique Matthews for St. Rita took the ball hard to the basket as he was able to come up with some nice shots late in the contest.
 
The score went back and forth late in the contest. Neither team gave up any easy baskets late in the contest.   
 
The game came down to the wire. DeLaSalle came away with the 59-53 victory over St. Rita.
 
As a team St. Rita shot 20-55 from the field that included going 4-11 from behind the three-point line. They were 9-13 from the free throw line. St. Rita brought down a total of 39 rebounds 21 of them on the defensive end. They were lead in scoring by Dominique Matthews with 17 points and Charles Matthews with 11 points.
 
As a team DeLaSalle shot 18-40 from the field that included going 1-9 from behind the three-point line. They shot 22-30 from the free throw line. As a team DeLaSalle brought down a total of 28 rebounds 21 of them on the defensive end. They were lead in scoring by Anim with 29 points.
