COON RAPIDS WENT UP AGAINST OSSEO IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 9 Coon Rapids and Osseo squared off in a boys basketball game.
 
Osseo looked to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition early.
 
Coon Rapids had a hard time making their shots that they put up. Even though they were attacking the basket, they were not able to hit the shots that they put up.
 
Osseo’s Wheeler Baker came up with a nice one-handed slam dunk that gave his team confidence.
 
On the next play Baker came up with another nice slam dunk. Coon Rapids called a timeout with
13:42 left in the first half. The score was Osseo 18, Coon Rapids 2.
 
Baker was also able to step outside of the three-point line and nail some deep three-point shots. His teammates were not afraid to pass him the ball anywhere on the floor. Baker did a good job of knowing where he was on the floor.
 
Coon Rapids wasn’t afraid to shoot the ball even though that they had difficulty shooting it. The
 
Osseo defense gave Coon Rapids fits on the offensive end.
 
Osseo’s Allen Anderson did a good job of bringing the ball down the floor. He got his team’s offense going as he shouted out plays that he wanted run. Osseo did a good job of taking time off the clock on offense as they passed the ball around the three-point line.
 
Coon Rapids was not able to slow down Osseo on the offensive end. They seemed to get flustered by the amount of pressure that Osseo applied.
 
Osseo was able to score baskets in transition. They used their quickness to get fast breaks.
 
At halftime the score was Osseo 61, Coon Rapids 20.
 
As the second half got underway Osseo continued to pass the ball around the three-point line to take time off the clock.
 
Ian Theisen shot a free throw with just under 15:00 left in regulation to become the all-time leading scorer in Osseo history.
 
Coon Rapids Sam Carver made shots for his team. His teammates got him the ball inside the three point line and he was able to make his jump shots.
 
Coon Rapids switched between man-to-man and zone defense throughout the second half. Osseo was still able to make shots that they put up.
 
Osseo’s Connor Kittleson got the ball inside and was able to make lay-ups. His teammates fed him the ball when he was on the low post and he took the ball strong to the basket.
 
Osseo ran away with the 94-35 victory over Coon Rapids.
 
The leading scorers for Coon Rapids were Sam Carver with 10 points, Timmy Nguyen with 8 points, and Jeremy Becker with 7 points.
 
The leading scorers for Osseo were Baker with 28, Theisen with 18, and Dembley with 12.
