Minnetonka and Minneapolis Washburn squared off in a boys basketball game. Minnetonka did a good job of running the floor and getting steals.
It took a while for each team to get into a shooting rhythm. Minnetonka was able to score baskets in transition.
The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.
Minnetonka’s Georg Clark found his short game shot as he was able to make short jump shots. His teammate Delshon Strickland got hot from the wing.
Minnetonka also scored a lot of baskets in transition.
Washburn called a timeout with 11:01 left in the first half. The score was Minnetonka 23, Washburn 13.
Washburn's Quinton Leon Garvis did a good job of letting people know where each other was supposed to be on the floor. Washburn swung the ball around the three-point line. They wanted to confuse the Minnetonka defense.
Washburn struggled to shoot the ball for a while late in the first half. Minnetonka used that to their advantage as they were able to score baskets on the misses.
Clark continued to hit mid-range jump shots late in the first half.
At halftime the score was Minnetonka 50, Washburn 27.
Minnetonka continued to attack the basket and make contested jump shots in the second half. They were able to shut down the Washburn offense by their defensive pressure.
Even though Washburn struggled to hit jump shots and layups they kept on shooting them.
Washburn took a lot of time off the clock in the second half without getting a shot off. The
Minnetonka defense was too much for Washburn to handle.
Minnetonka came away with the 89-58 victory over Washburn.
The leading scorer for Washburn was Jones with 16. The leading scorers for Minnetonka were Stickland and Seth Coatta each with 18.
