LAKE CITY WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS NORTH IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Dec. 7, Hopkins High School was the scene of the 16th annual Boys’ Tip-Off Classic. 

Lake City went up against Minneapolis North in a boys’ basketball game. Both teams started out slow. Neither team went on a run early in the game. 

North used their quickness to get down the floor and was able to get the ball down the floor and make layups in transition. 

North did a good job of getting the ball down the floor and getting their shots going in. North’s Willie Willson came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. 

North swung the ball around the 3-point line and took a lot of time off the clock and took time off the clock. 

Lake City called a timeout 4:08 left in the first half. The score was Lake City 24, North 18. 

North continued to make shots late in the first half. Lake City continued to make shots late in the first half.

At halftime, the score was Lake City 32 North 21. 

As the second half got underway Lake City continued to push the ball down the floor took time off the clock. 

North continued to move the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition. 

Lake City did a good job of moving the ball down the floor and getting everyone involved in the offense. 

The North offense got going midway through the second half. 

Lake City called a timeout with 13:30 left in the second half. The score was Lake City 37, North 36. 

The score went back and forth in the second half. 

Lake City kept the ball rolling down the floor. 

North called a timeout with 11:00 left in regulation. The score was North 46, Lake City 42.

Lake City continued to get to the basket and come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. 

North continued to push the ball down the floor and make layups in transition. 

North called a timeout with 3:43 left in regulation. The score was Lake City 58, North 52.

North struggled shooting the ball late in the game. Even though they struggled they kept on shooting the ball. 

Lake City played well throughout the game. They were able to come away with the 65-54 victory over North.
