MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST WENT UP AGAINST ROOSEVELT IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Dec. 30, Minneapolis Southwest went up against and Minneapolis Roosevelt squared off in a boys’ basketball game. The game was part of the 2019 TCO Holiday Classic. The game was played at Augsburg University.

Both teams looked to push the down the floor and looked for baskets in transition. It took awhile for Roosevelt to get into a shooting rhythm.

Southwest’s Marcus Mattox and Kentrell Gaulden both came up with mid-range jump shots and jump shots.

Roosevelt called a timeout with 12:53 left in the first half. The score was Southwest 16, Roosevelt 7.

Southwest did a good job of moving the ball down the floor and getting everyone involved in the offense. Southwest came up with steals on the offensive end and was able to turn the steals into layups on the offensive end.

Southwest called a timeout with 2:48 left in the first half. The score was Southwest 29, Roosevelt 21.

Southwest looked to keep the defensive pressure upon Roosevelt as they looked to turn them over.

Roosevelt looked to control the tempo late in the first half.

At halftime, the score was Southwest 35, Roosevelt 26.

As the second half got underway, Southwest continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition. Southwest also took their time on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the 3-point line and got everyone involved in the offense.

Roosevelt called a timeout with 15:36 left in the second half. The score was Southwest 37, Roosevelt 28.

Southwest’s Christo Polydorou and Camden Holter both came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the game.

Roosevelt’s Montgomery Booth and Nelson Ladd both came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half.

Southwest called a timeout with 9:36 left in regulation. The score was Southwest 54, Roosevelt 35.

Southwest’s Marcus Mattox came up with deep 3-point shots in the second half. He came off screens and was able to get to the basket.

Southwest called a timeout with 6:09 left in regulation. The score was Southwest 57, Roosevelt 42.

Southwest went to a zone defense late in the game. That made Roosevelt pass the ball around the 3-point line.

Even though Roosevelt had a difficult time scoring they kept

Southwest called a timeout with 1:23 left in regulation. The score was Southwest 64, Roosevelt 53.

Southwest continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to get baskets in transition.

Southwest came way with the 66-55 victory over Roosevelt.

Southwest’s Christo Polydorou ended with 18 points and Marcus Mattox ended with 13 points. Roosevelt was led in scoring by Montgomery Booth 22 points Nelson Ladd ended with 13 points.
