MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS NORTH IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 9, Minneapolis Washburn went up against Minneapolis North in a boys’ basketball game.

North looked to push the ball down the floor and looked to score layups in transition.  It took a while for both teams to get into a shooting rhythm.

Southwest took their time on the offensive end as they passed the ball around the 3-point line and got everyone involved in the offense.

North looked to get everyone in the offense. As they passed the ball around the 3-point line and looked for their shots. North’s Davon Townley came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. If Townley didn’t think that he had a good shot, he would pass it to one of his teammates. His teammates knew where he was on the floor and got him the ball where he could shoot it.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. There were multiple ties and lead changes throughout the first half. Neither team went on a big run in the first half.

North’s De’Miko Anderson came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. North got everyone involved in the offense. They swung the ball around the 3-point line Anderson stepped up and knocked down deep 3-point shots throughout the first half.

Southwest did a good job of moving the ball down the floor

Southwest 8:48 left in regulation. The score was North 22, Southwest 19.

Southwest did a good job of attacking the basket late in the first half. They were able to make mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half.

There were multiple ties and lead changes throughout the first half.

North’s Willie Wilson came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half.

With 3:08 left in regulation, the score was North 33, Southwest 31.

North’s CJ Brown III came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half.  North’s offense came alive late in the first half.

Both teams took a lot of time off the clock late in the first half.

At halftime, the score was North 39, Southwest 34.

As the second half got underway North continued to move the ball down the floor well and score baskets in transition.

North’s Mario Sanders III came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half. He was able to get to the basket and get his teammates involved in the offense.

North called a timeout with 13:38 left in regulation. The score was North 48, Southwest 41.

Willie Wilson and Townley both came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half.  North looked to take the ball hard to the basket late in the second half.

Southwest called a timeout with 8:25 left in regulation. The score was North 62, Southwest 48.

North continued to come up with layups in transition late in regulation. Sanders continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

North’s Quientrail Jamison-Travis came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half.

Southwest called a timeout with 5:29 left in regulation. The score was North 75, Southwest 54.

North continued to make shots down the stretch late in the game. Southwest didn’t give up as they kept on attacking the basket late in the game.

North called a timeout with 3:04 left in regulation. The score was North 83, Southwest 56.

North’s Freshawn Collins came in off the bench and looked to provide North an offensive spark.

North came away with the 88-60 victory over Southwest.

The leading scorers for Southwest were Christo Polydorou with 27 points, and Jaden Reed and Gabe Senseman-Cassidy each with 12 points.
