Southwest Christian looked to take their time on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the three-point line and made sure that they had a good shot. They didn’t force shots.
MTS looked to score baskets in transition.
Southwest Christian’s Colin Provart came up with some layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
Southwest Christian played a zone defense. They were able to get steals on the defensive end and come away with layups.
MTS used a zone defense. They wanted to force Southwest Christian to take deep three-point baskets. Southwest Christian did just that and they made them.
MTS called a timeout with 10:36 left in the first half. The score was Southwest Christian 17, MTS 10.
MTS forward Curtis Gillium was able to get his mid-range jump shot to fall in the first half. MTS was quick on the offensive end. They were able to use their size and quickness to come up with steals and rebounds.
Southwest Christian’s Jack Jenson and Trey Sadness each came up with some huge shots throughout the first half. There teammates did a good job of getting them the ball where they could hit shots.
Southwest Christian called a timeout with 4:58 left to go in the first half. The score was Southwest Christian 26, MTS 20.
MTS switched between man-to-man and zone defense.
Southwest Christian moved the ball down the floor well and make layups in transition.
At halftime the score was Southwest Christian 36, MTS 27.
As the second half got underway MTS looked to set the tempo early. They did a good job of taking care of the basketball. On the offensive end they got the ball into McCaleb’s hands. McCaleb continued to get everyone involved in the offense but if he thought that he had a good look at an open shot he would shoot it.
Southwest Christian wasn’t afraid to take deep three-point shots.
Southwest Christian called a timeout with 13:32 left in regulation. The score was Southwest Christian 39, MTS 34.
Southwest Christian went to a full court man-to-man trap as they were able to turn MTS over and come up with layups.
Southwest Christian’s Drew Schwarz came up with some layups that kept his team in the game. The guards did a good job of getting him the ball in the paint where he was able to hit layups.
MTS continued to make shots down the stretch.
Southwest Christian got the lead late in the contest.
Both teams turn the ball over late in the game. Neither team could capitalize on the other turnovers.
In a game that came down to the wire Southwest Christian came away with 60-58 victory over MTS.
The leading scorer for MTS was Gillium with 24 points.
The leading scorers for Southwest Christian was Jenson with 13 points.
