GRAND MEADOW WENT UP AGAINST WAUBUN IN THE CLASS 9-MAN FOOTBALL SEMIFINALS

On Nov. 7 Grand Meadow and Waubun squared off in the Class 9-Man semifinals. Grand Meadow kicked off to start the game. Waubun kept the ball on the ground on their first drive. Waubun’s Peyton Syverson came up with a first down run. Waubun mixed in the passing and running attacks as they kept Grand Meadow guessing on what they were going to do. Waubun came up with a touchdown on a 1-yard touchdown run by Syverson. The extra-point attempt was no good.
 
With 7:21 left in the first quarter the score was Waubun 6, Grand Meadow 0.
 
Grand Meadow took over on the 47-yard line and they fumbled the ball and Waubun recovered it on their own 43-yard line.
 
Waubun kept the ball in the hands of Syverson. He was able to find holes on the defense. Wabun punted on 4th down.
 
Grand Meadow went to the air as they looked to pick up first downs. On 4th-and-10 they punted the ball.
 
After one quarter of play the score was Waubun 6, Grand Meadow 0.
 
Waubun punted the ball on 4th down.
 
Grand Meadow’s Christopher Bain ran 51 yards for a touchdown.  The extra-point attempt was good.
 
With 10:23 left in the second quarter the score was Grand Meadow 7, Waubun 6.
 
Waubun moved the ball down the field as they kept on getting the ball into the hands of Syverson.
 
Waubun called a timeout with 7:50 left in the second quarter. The score was Grand Meadow 7, Waubun 6.
 
On 4th-and-4 Waubun went for it and came up with a first down on a Sam Rothschadl run. Waubun looked to get the ball into the end zone late in the second quarter. They did that on a Syverson 16-yard touchdown run.
 
The two-point conversion was good.
 
With 6:14 left in the second quarter the score was Waubun 14, Grand Meadow 7.
 
Grand Meadow had trouble moving the ball down the field. On 4th-and-10 they punted the ball.
 
Waubun kept the ball in Syverson’s hands. He was able to get away from the Grand Meadow defenders.
 
Grand Meadow called a timeout with 3:29 left in the second quarter. The score was Waubun 14, Grand Meadow 7.
 
Waubun kept the ball on the ground. On 4th-and-6 Waubun punted the ball.
 
Grand Meadow went to a hurry up offense as they didn’t take a lot of time off the clock late in the second quarter.
 
Grand Meadow called a timeout with 40 seconds left in the second quarter. The score was Waubun 14, Grand Meadow 7.
 
Grand Meadow’s Bain came up with a huge reception. Grand Meadow’s Wes Ojulu came up with a 10-yard touchdown reception. The extra-point attempt was good.
 
With 25 seconds left in the second quarter the score was tied at 14.
 
Waubun took over on their own 44-yard line.
 
Waubun called a timeout with 9 seconds left in the second quarter.
 
At halftime the score was tied at 14.
 
Waubun kicked off to start the third quarter. Grand Meadow took over on their own 41-yard line.
 
Grand Meadow kept the ball on the ground on their first drive of the third quarter. Grand Meadow turned the ball over on downs.
 
Waubun took over on their own 43-yard line. Waubun fumbled the ball and Grand Meadow recovered it.
 
Grand Meadow looked to move the ball down the field. Bain came up with a 56-yard touchdown run.
 
The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 5:27 left in the third quarter the score was Grand Meadow 21, Waubun 14.
 
Waubun turned the ball over on an interception by Brenn Olson.
 
Grand Meadow took over on the 48-yard line. Grand Meadow continued to pound the ball down the field using their running attack. Waubun’s Syverson intercepted a pass and they took over on the 32-yard line.
 
Waubun punted the ball on 4th-and-5. They faked the punt but they were unsuccessful at picking up the first down.
 
Grand Meadow took over on the 37-yard line.
 
After three quarters of play the score was Grand Meadow 21, Waubun 14.
 
Grand Meadow’s Carter King came up with a huge first down run. Grand Meadow found the end zone on a 1-yard touchdown run by Zach Myhre run. The extra-point attempt was good.
 
With 11:02 left in the fourth quarter the score was Grand Meadow 28, Waubun 14.
 
Waubun looked to the air as they wanted to find open receivers but came up short. On 4th-and-8 they punted the ball.
 
Grand Meadow took over on their own 37-yard line. Grand Meadow looked to the air late in the fourth quarter. Grand Meadow turned the ball over on downs.
 
Waubun took over on their own 29-yard line. Waubun’s Dayton Makey came up with a 17-yard first down run. On 4th-and-7 Waubun went for it but they were not able to come up with a first down.
 
Grand Meadow took over on their own 46-yard line.
 
Waubun called a timeout with 3:57 left in the fourth quarter. The score was Grand Meadow 28, Waubun 14.
 
Grand Meadow punted on 4th down. Bain came up with a 9-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 2:20 left in the fourth quarter the score was Grand Meadow 35, Waubun 14.
 
Waubun looked to get on the scoreboard one more time late in the fourth quarter. They didn’t take much time off the clock.
 
Waubun found the end zone on a 13-yard run by Syverson. The extra-point attempt was no good.
 
With 18 seconds left to go in the game the score was Grand Meadow 35, Waubun 20. That was the final of the game.
