On Dec. 2 St. Paul Highland Park and Minneapolis South squared off in a boy’ basketball game.
South looked to move the ball down the floor quickly. South was able to score in transition on fast break layups.
Highland Park’s Khari Dennis came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.
South’s Johnnie Turner came up with layups and steals. He was able to come up with steals and convert them into layups.
The score went back and forth late in the first half. Neither team went on a run.
At halftime the score was Highland Park 35, South 28.
South’s Michael Harris was all over the floor. He stepped up and knocked down 3-point baskets. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball where he could shoot it.
As the second half got underway South looked to control the tempo. South came up with 3-point shots.
Highland Park looked to score baskets in transition.
South looked to control the tempo of the game in the second half.
South passed the ball around the 3-point line against the Highland Park zone defense.
There were many ties and lead changes in the second half. Neither team went on a huge run.
Highland Park's Mike Cornelius made two free throws as the time expired and Highland Park came away with the 61-59 victory over South.
