PIPESTONE TOOK ON CALEDONIA IN THE CLASS 2A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Pipestone and Caledonia squared off against each other in the Class 2A state football championship game.
 
Caledonia’s Owen King found Alex Goergen for a 10-yard touchdown completion. The extra-point attempt was good.
 
With 10:05 left in the first quarter the score was Caledonia 7, Pipestone 0.
 
The Pipestone defense slowed down the Caledonia offense.
 
After one quarter of play the score was Caledonia 7, Pipestone 0.
 
Caledonia came up with a touchdown on an Owen King 12-yard pass to Tate Meiners. Henry Russert’s extra-point attempt was not good.
 
With 8:21 left in the second quarter the score was Caledonia 13, Pipestone 0.
 
Caledonia found the end zone on a Sam Stemper run for a 2-yard run. The extra-point attempt was good.  
 
With 4:50 left in the second quarter the score was Caledonia 20, Pipestone 0.
 
Pipestone turned the ball over on downs.
 
Caledonia looked to get into the end zone late in the quarter. They did that on a Stemper 1-yard run.
 
The extra-point attempt was good.
 
With 2:22 left in the second quarter the score was Caledonia 27, Pipestone 0.
 
Caledonia found the end zone on a 39-yard touchdown reception by Colton Lampert. The extra-point attempt was not good.
 
With 49 seconds left in the second quarter the score was Caledonia 33, Pipestone 0. That was the score at halftime.
 
Caledonia kicked off to start the third quarter. Pipestone started on their own 29-yard line. Pipestone punted on 4th-down.
 
Pipestone had a difficult time moving the ball down the field. Caledonia’s Georgen and Stemper stepped up big and came up with huge plays.
 
The Caledonia defense came up with some big stops. That forced Pipestone to punt on 4th-downs.
 
Caledonia was also effective in mixing up the pass and running attacks throughout the game. They were able to keep Pipestone guessing on what plays they were running.
 
Noah King threw to Nick McCabe for a 13-yard touchdown reception. The extra-point attempt was good. With 42 seconds left in the third quarter the score was Caledonia 40, Pipestone 0.  
 
Pipestone looked to move the ball down the field in the fourth quarter. Pipestone was intercepted by
Ben McCabe and Caledonia took over on their own 49-yard line.  
 
Caledonia’s Stemper came up with a huge run for a first down.
 
Caledonia came up with the 40-0 victory over Pipestone.
