MINNEAPOLIS PATRICK HENRY WENT UP AGAINST BRECK IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

On Dec. 21 Minneapolis Patrick Henry and Breck squared off in a boys' basketball game. The game was played on the campus of Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn.

Breck started the game out in a zone defense. They wanted to force Henry to shoot deep 3-point shots.

It took a while for each team to get into a shooting rhythm. Breck swung the ball around the three-point line as they looked to attack the Henry zone defense. Henry did look to trap out of the zone defense.

Henry’s Julian Jackson stepped up and knocked down 3-point baskets. If Jackson thought, he could get past the defenders he also wasn’t afraid to drive to the basket and shoot layups.

Breck called a timeout with 10:52 left in the first half. The score was Breck 10, Henry 8.

Henry’s Demetress Edwards-Brown dove on the floor after loose balls. He also drove to the basket making layups.

Henry trapped on defense. They wanted to create havoc and force Breck to turn the ball over.

There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first half. Neither team went on a huge run.

Jackson’s teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot the ball.  

Both teams took a lot of shots in the first half. The pace was quick throughout.

Henry’s Savion Scott stepped up and knocked down three-point shots late in the first half. Scott also stepped up and knocked down mid-range jump shots and layups.

Breck called a timeout with 2:00 left in the first half. The score was Henry 27, Breck 19.

Scott came up with layups late in the first half. He also did a good job of going after steals.

At halftime the score was Henry 31, Breck 21 

Breck’s David Roddy was all over the floor. He drove to the basket and came up with layups and mid-range jump shots.

Breck was really deliberate in their passing in the second half. They passed the ball around the three-point line and everyone touched the ball on the floor.

Breck called a timeout with 15:28 left in regulation. The score was Henry 36, Breck 26.

Breck stayed in their zone defense as they wanted to force Henry to keep taking deep shots.

Breck struggled to shoot the ball in the second half. Breck was able to slow Henry down offensively.

Breck came up with steals and was able to convert on offense.

Henry’s Jordan Lynn stepped up and knocked down 3-point baskets. That gave his team energy.

Wood came up with full court layups. He used his quickness to get past defenders.

Breck called a timeout with 9:59 left in the second half. The score was Henry 48, Breck 31.

Breck’s Quinlan Faeth knocked down 3-point shots in the second half. The Henry defense couldn’t defend him behind the 3-point line.

Breck called a timeout with 5:43 left in regulation. The score was Henry 56, Breck 43.

Henry picked up their defensive pressure at full court. They wanted to make it difficult for Breck to bring the ball down the floor.

Scott came up with layups late in the game.

Henry came away with the 71-46 victory over Breck.  

The leading scorers for Henry were Jackson with 19 points and Scott with 18 points.

The leading scorer for Breck was Roddy with 12 points
