On Dec. 8 St. Croix Lutheran and Minneapolis North squared off in a boys' basketball game.
North looked to push the ball down the floor and set the tempo of the game early.
It took a while for each team to get into an offensive rhythm.
St. Croix Lutheran moved the ball down the floor well. They were able to make layups in transition.
St. Croix Lutheran’s Aage Rovney stepped up and knocked down 3-point shots in the first half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
North struggled to shoot the ball in the first half.
Neither team went on a huge run in the first half.
St. Croix Lutheran took a lot of time off the clock in the first half. They passed the ball around the 3-point line as they got everyone involved in the offense.
St. Croix Lutheran called a timeout with 8:08 left in the first half. The score was St. Croix Lutheran
18, North 14.
St. Croix Lutheran got a lot of fast break layups. St. Croix Lutheran was a little quicker than North.
They were getting down the floor quicker.
At halftime the score was St. Croix Lutheran 33, North 28.
As the second half got underway both teams traded baskets.
North looked to get the ball inside.
St. Croix Lutheran called a timeout with 14:43 left in the second half. The score was North 38, St. Croix Lutheran 35.
The score went back and forth throughout the second half.
St. Croix Lutheran turned the ball over and North was able to capitalize on the turnovers.
St. Croix Lutheran’s Abe Murkey came up with layups. The North defense had a difficult time slowing him down.
St. Croix Lutheran called a timeout with 9:31 left in regulation. The score was St. Croix Lutheran 47, North 45.
North’s Tyler Johnson Ahzerik Rodgers and Odell Wilson IV all came up with huge shots that kept North in the game.
The game came down to the wire. Neither team went on a huge run late in the contest.
North came away with the 72-67 victory over St. Croix Lutheran
