Mandan and St. Cloud Cathedral squared off in a boys' basketball game.
The game got off to a quick start. Both teams looked to make layups in transition.
Cathedral took a lot of time off the shot clock. They looked to shoot the ball with just under 10 seconds left. Cathedral also got everyone involved in the offense.
Mandan called a timeout with 13:23 left in the first half. The score was Cathedral 11, Mandan 4.
Cathedral did a good job of communicating with what plays that they wanted ran on offense. On the defensive end they were able to slow Mandan down.
Mandan tied the score at 14 with just under 9 minutes left in the first half.
There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first half.
The game was very physical. Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls and both collided on the boards going after rebounds.
At halftime the score was Cathedral 31 and Mandan 24.
As the second half got underway Cathedral continued to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.
Mandan’s Camren Steckler was all over the floor. He came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half.
Mandan looked inside for layups in the second half. Nick Miller came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball where he could shoot it.
Mandan moved the ball down the court well. They communicated well and knew what plays that they wanted ran.
Cathedral came up with the 55-49 victory over Mandan.
